For anyone who was building, selling or teaching custom GPTs
Turn the instructions you already wrote into an AI assistant with its own link
Paste what the assistant should do, optionally upload a document it should answer from, and publish. You get a public chat page you can send to anyone — no code, no hosting, no API setup.

What changed on 16 August 2026
On 16 August 2026, OpenAI stopped personal ChatGPT accounts from creating or publishing custom GPTs. If you were selling custom GPTs, handing them out as bonuses, or teaching people how to build them, that route simply stopped working.
The instructions you wrote are still good. They just need somewhere to live that you control. That is all Ownbot does: it takes the instructions and gives them a public chat page with your own link.
Three steps
- 1. Paste your instructions — plain English, the same thing you'd tell a new assistant on their first day.
- 2. Add knowledge files if you want — .txt, .md, .pdf or .docx, and the assistant answers from them.
- 3. Publish and get a link — a public page at ownbot.co/b/your-slug that anyone can open in a browser.
Try it right now — this is an Ownbot assistant
The chat below is not a video and not a mock-up. It is a real Ownbot assistant, built the same way yours will be, answering from its own instructions. Ask it how Ownbot works.
The demo is capped to a few messages per visitor so it stays available. Your own assistants are not capped this way — they run on credits.
What you can do with it
- Answer the same customer questions over and over without doing it yourself.
- Put a trained assistant on a link in your bio, your emails or your support page.
- Give an assistant to a client as part of a project, or as a bonus with something you already sell.
- Feed it your own document — price sheet, process notes, course outline — and let it answer from that instead of guessing.
- Collect emails before someone chats, then export them as a CSV.
What you get for $17
- 3 assistants
- 2,000 credits
- Email gate with lead capture
- Lead CSV export
Every item above is live in the product today. Prices, credits and limits on this page come from the same configuration the app itself uses.
Start from a template instead of a blank page
24 ready-made assistant templates are included: writing, sales, operations and general business tasks. Pick one, edit the wording, publish. The picker holds 74 templates in total — the rest belong to the optional Bot Vault, and you can preview them before deciding whether you want them.
Why not one of the bigger platforms
Pickaxe, Chatbase and Botpress are capable products, and if you need what they do, use them. They are built for agencies and teams, and they are monthly subscriptions — you keep paying every month whether the assistant gets used or not.
Ownbot is one payment for the plan, plus credits you can top up when you want more. It does less on purpose: instructions in, public chat link out. Check their current pricing and features yourself before deciding — we are not going to characterise their plans for you.
What this is not
- • Not unlimited. Usage is metered in credits — one credit per assistant reply.
- • Text chat only. No voice, no image generation, no video.
- • No testimonials or earnings figures on this page, because we have none to show.
- • You bring the instructions. Ownbot does not invent your business knowledge for you.
- • Not a replacement for ChatGPT itself. This publishes assistants; it is not a general chat app.
Who this is for — and who it isn't
It fits if you:
- Already write assistant instructions and want somewhere to publish them.
- Were building or selling custom GPTs and lost that route.
- Want a shareable chat link without touching an API key, a server or a framework.
- Are happy to edit wording yourself rather than have it done for you.
It does not fit if you:
- Need unlimited messages at this price — usage is credit-metered.
- Need voice, image generation or video.
- Need the assistant on your own domain — pages load from ownbot.co.
- Want someone else to write your instructions and set it up for you.
Questions
- Do I need to know how to code?
- No. You paste instructions in plain English, optionally upload a knowledge file, and Ownbot gives you a link you can share.
- What is a credit?
- One credit is one assistant reply. Ownbot includes 2,000 credits. Usage is credit-metered, not unlimited, and you can buy a refill pack at any time.
- Where does my assistant live?
- On its own public page at ownbot.co/b/your-slug. You share that link; visitors chat in the browser with nothing to install.
- What can I upload as knowledge?
- Plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), PDF (.pdf) and Word (.docx) files. Ownbot extracts the text and the assistant answers from it.
- Can it do voice, images or video?
- No. Assistants are text chat only.
- How many assistants do I get?
- Ownbot allows 3 assistants. The free plan allows 1. Pro removes the limit.
- Do I collect leads?
- Yes. You can put an email gate in front of an assistant, and export the captured emails as a CSV.
- What is the refund policy?
- 30 days. See the refund policy linked in the footer.
Planned — not included in this purchase
- • Paid gate (payment processing)
- • Custom domains
These are not built. Do not buy expecting them. If they ship later, nothing on this page promises them to you.
